When Baby Strayed Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AA BB CC DD EE FG HH II AA JAAKLLMMAAAAAA AAA

When Baby strayed it seemed to meA
Sun moon and stars waned suddenlyA
-
At once with frenzied haste my feetB
Ran up and down the busy streetB
-
If ever in my life I prayedC
It was the evening Baby strayedC
-
And yet my great concern was thisD
Not dread of losing Baby's kissD
-
And Baby's soft small hand in mineE
And Baby's comradeship divineE
-
'Twas BABY'S terror BABY'S fearsF
Whose hand but mine could dry her tearsG
-
I without Baby In my needH
I were a piteous soul indeedH
-
But piteous far beyond all otherI
A little child without a motherI
-
And God in mercy graciouslyA
Gave my lost darling back to meA
-
O high and lofty OneJ
THOU couldst have lived to all eternityA
Apart from MEA
In majesty upon that emerald throneK
Thou with Thy morning starsL
Thy dawns with golden barsL
And all the music of the heavenly trainM
Possessing all things what hadst Thou to gainM
By seeking meA
What was I and what am I less than noughtA
And yet Thy mercy soughtA
Yea Thou hast set my feetA
Upon the way of holiness and sweetA
It is to seek Thee daily unafraidA
-
But this I learnt the night that Baby strayedA
Here was Thy chief Thy great concern for meA
My desolate estate apart from TheeA
