To An Old Teapot Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CCCC DADA EFEF AGAG ACAF

Now from the dust of half forgotten thingsA
You rise to haunt me at the year's Spring cleaningB
And bring to memory dim imaginingsA
Of mystic meaningB
-
No old time potter handled you I weenC
Nor yet were you of gold or silver moltenC
No Derby stamp nor Worcester can be seenC
Nor Royal DoultonC
-
You never stood to grace the princely boardD
Of monarchs in some Oriental palaceA
Your lid is chipped your chubby side is scoredD
As if in maliceA
-
I hesitate to say it but your spoutE
Is with unhandsome rivets held togetherF
Mute witnesses of treatment meted outE
In regions netherF
-
O patient sufferer of many bumpsA
I ask it gently shall the dustbin hold youG
And will the dust heap with its cabbage stumpsA
At last enfold youG
-
It ought And yet with gentle hands I placeA
You with my priceless Delft and Dresden chinaC
For sake of one who loved your homely faceA
In days divinerF
