Owd John's got past his work said theyA
Last week as ever was don't payA
To send by him He's stoopid tooB
And brings things what won't never doB
We'll send by post he is that slowC
And that owd hoss of his can't goC
-
But 'smornin' well 'twas fun to seeD
The gentlefolks run after weD
Squire's lady stopped I in the laneE
Oh says she goin' to town againF
You'll not mind calling into BingsD
To fetch my cakes and buns and thingsD
I've got a party comin' onG
And nought to eat so DO 'ee JohnG
-
Then up the street who should I seeD
But old Mam Bessant hail'n' meD
And Doctor's wife and Mrs HiggsD
Was wantin' vittles for their pigsD
And would I bring some Well what nex'D
And Granny Dunn has broke her specsD
And wants 'em mended up in townH
So would John call and bring 'em downH
To night and so the tale goes onG
'Tis Sure you will now DO 'ee JohnG
-
Well 'tis a hevil wind that blowsD
Nobody any good it showsD
As owd John haves his uses yetI
Though now and then he do forgetI
Gee up owd gal When strikes is onG
They're glad of pore owd stoopid JohnG
