Song Of A Woodland Stream Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAACCDED FGFG HHCCI HHFFGG

Silent was I and so stillA
As day followed dayB
Imprisoned untilA
King Frost worked his willA
Held fast like a viceC
In his cold hand of iceC
For fear kept me silent and loD
He had wrapped me around and aboutE
with a mantle of snowD
-
But sudden there spakeF
One greater than heG
Then my heart was awakeF
And my spirit ran freeG
-
At His bidding my bands fell apart He had burst them asunderH
I can feel the swift wind rushing by me once more the old wonderH
Of quickening sap stirs my pulses I shout in my gladnessC
Forgetting the sadnessC
For the Voice of the Lord fills the airI
-
And forth through the hollow I go where in glad April weatherH
The trees of the forest break out into singing togetherH
And here the frail windflowers will cluster with young ferns uncurlingF
Where broader and deeper my waters go eddying whirlingF
To meet the sweet Spring on her journey His servant to beG
Whose word set me freeG
