Winter Flowers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHIHJHAH EKLKBDMN OMPMQRMR

The summer queen has many flowersA
To deck her sunny hairB
And trailing grasses pure and sweetC
To scent the heavy airB
And upward through the misty skyD
There is a glory tooE
Of floating clouds and rifts of goldF
And depths of smiling blueE
-
-
Yet winter too can boast a wealthG
Of flowers pure and whiteH
A kingly crown of frosted gemsI
A wreath of sparkling lightH
So bright and beautiful indeedJ
It were a wondrous sightH
To see a world of fragile flowersA
Sprung up within a nightH
-
And sometimes there are cast'es tooE
Of glittering ice and snowK
Piled high upon our window panesL
'Neath curtains hanging lowK
And they are like the castles fairB
Our day dreams build for ayeD
A frozen mist that one warm breathM
May quickly drive awayN
-
And yet how beautiful they areO
These flowers of our breathM
That bloom when not a leaf is leftP
To mourn the summer's deathM
And oh how wondrous are the thingsQ
That God has given the earthR
The day that brings to one a deathM
Smiles on another's birthR
