The Star Of Youth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GAFA HBIB AJBJ HKLK MNON JPQP

The sun sinks down in the crimson westA
Oh a beautiful sun is heB
With his purple robes and his crown of goldC
And his feet dipped in the seaB
-
Along the shore where the sea weeds lieD
Like threads of her tangled hairE
Naomi stands in the amber glowF
Of the mystical sunset airE
-
Her hair is brown with a yellow tingeG
That rivals the gold of the westA
Her eyes are dark with the velvety glowF
That darkens the pansy's breastA
-
A star shines out in the purple eastH
Oh a beautiful star is heB
With his home in the wonderful azure skiesI
And his throne in the deep blue seaB
-
There are bars of gold in the crimson westA
And jewels on every barJ
Yet Naomi's soul is beyond the seaB
And her eyes are fixed on the starJ
-
O star that shines in the dusky eastH
Be thou the star of my youthK
And guide my soul through the shadows of earthL
To the shining gates of truthK
-
There are years that melt in the seas of lifeM
Like drops in the ocean of timeN
And the joys they bring are as soon forgotO
As the words of a careless rhymeN
-
Be thou the light that shall guide me farJ
From the years that vanish as rainP
And lead my soul to the feet of GodQ
Even through years of painP
