Memory Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHBHIFJK BLMLKNFN OBPBEQRQ

A treasured link of shining pearlsA
A by gone melodyB
A shower of tears with smiles betweenC
And this is memoryB
A thing so light a breath of airD
May waft its life awayE
A thing so dark that moments of painF
Seem like some endless dayE
-
A careless word may wound the heartG
And quickly it may dieH
Yet in the seas of memoryB
Forever it will lieH
And sometimes when the tide rolls backI
Its waves of joy and painF
That careless word though long forgotJ
Will wound the heart againK
-
The restless seas of memoryB
Are vast and deep and wideL
And every deed that we can knowM
Sleeps in that tireless tideL
Upon the thoughtless lives of menK
Its waves in mockery rollN
And sweep a might of bitter painF
Across each human soulN
-
And few can stand upon the sandsO
Beside this boundless seaB
And say with calm unfaltering voiceP
It has no grief for meB
The passing wave may bear awayE
Our deeds and words untrueQ
Yet surely as the tide comes inR
The wrecks will follow tooQ
