Life Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCABABDDEEFFGHGH AACCIIJDJD

A dewy flower bathed in crimson lightA
May touch the soul a pure and beauteous sightA
A golden river flashing 'neath the sunB
May reach the spot where life's dark waters runB
Yet when the sun is gone the splendor diesC
With drooping head the tender flower liesC
And such is life a golden mist of lightA
A tangled web that glitters in the sunB
When shadows come the glory takes its flightA
The treads are dark and worn and life is doneB
Oh tears that chill us like the dews of eveD
Why come unbid why should we ever grieveD
Why is it though life hath its leaves of goldE
The book each day some sorrow must unfoldE
What human heart with truth can dare to sayF
No grief is mine this is a perfect dayF
Oh poet take your harp of gold and singG
And all the earth with heavenly music fillH
You may do this yet song can never bringG
One sunbeam back let song be what it willH
Oh painter you can catch the glowing lightA
That tints the skies before the coming nightA
With throbbing heart and upward lifted eyesC
You paint the splendor of the purple skiesC
Yet tell me does your genius hold the keyI
To life's strange secrets and its mysteryI
Oh life is sad yet sunshine too is thereJ
We cannot tell what spell the years may weaveD
Perchance a song that dies upon the airJ
Perhaps a shadow that the sun doth leaveD
