This is not a poemA
-
nor a systematic arraignment of simileB
-
neither a display of metaphoric beautyC
-
this is the dark ode of a bleeding penD
-
dripping of a nation woundedE
-
manifestation of this drowning dark desireF
-
I come not as a voice drunk in confidenceG
-
but a hidden feint familiar voiceH
-
I come bare raw as red Chunk of fleshI
-
I carry the wounds of generation pastJ
-
a memory inscribed on the tombsK
-
of generations yet to comeA
-
-
-
I come to you a dying weak voice of humanityC
-
seeking a grasp of redemptionL
-
as I erode in bitM
-
In this dark age where I am stabbed a thousand time to deathN
-
held by different chains of afflictionL
-
strangling out of me everyday oiter of oneness loveO
-
nationhood and human HoodP
-
-
This is not a poemA
-
this is a mask of anxietyC
-
this is the fresh wounds of a bleeding motherhoodP
-
who must lay beneath the groundQ
-
the seed of her womb by her handsR
-
Who her own cannot protectS
-
a quivering of a weak heart consumedT
-
Of a nation hinged on colorsU
-
brutality and darknessV
-
This is not a poemA
-
this is adventure in futility to matterF
-
as I cast my gaze to memories pastJ
-
a lane of a dark skin melaninL
-
with thick dark hair as spongeW
-
who has not known beautyC
-
because her skin clouds the eyes of menD
-
so her heart has learnt only darknessV
-
my friend there is no beauty inX
-
darknessV
-
-
The only path that seem right is whiteY
-
so to matter I burnt in bit every pigmentZ
-
of melanin until my skin shined white as snowA2
-
like the sun it stood blinding the eyes of menD
-
but yet again I felt the grip so hardB2
-
of obscurityC
-
a mockery to me for I never matteredC2
-
then it stood bare to meC
-
that being black was a condition of their heartD2
-
not the matter of my skinX
-
no matter how much I try I was still that black girlB
-
there is no beauty in darkness my friendE2
-
-
In this day of history I am but a master piece of striveF2
-
no matter how broad my knowledge of scienceG
-
Or how beautiful my performance of artD2
-
there is no excellence in being blackG2
-
no matter how high I climb I am pulled down by this forceH2
-
and my only Identify was blackG2
-
in black is my darknessV
-
my friend there is no excellence in darknessV
-
-
While you walk with your head so sighI2
-
I bend so low not have a colition with the lawB
-
don t quote me wrong this is not a poemA
-
on racism but a display of a single storyC
-
this is not a studio to paint white blackG2
-
this is an epistle calling for a balanceG
-
for the part of humanityC
-
whose only cause is to matterF
-
-
-
This is not a poemA
-
this is a defeated voice of humanityC
-
a cry in anguish for redemptionL
-
this is a letter to that beautiful conscienceG
-
that love is meant to be seen and feltJ2
-
this is humanity calling us back to himselfK2
-
like a prodigal father his sonL
-
this is a reminder of our rootL2
-
before we are black white woman youthM2
-
we where first humansN2
-
this is not my voice neither my wordsO2
-
this is me lending my voice to humanityC
