A Last Word Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDCDCD

Let us go hence the night is now at handA
The day is overworn the birds all flownB
And we have reaped the crops the gods have sownB
Despair and death deep darkness o'er the landA
Broods like an owl we cannot understandA
Laughter or tears for we have only knownB
Surpassing vanity vain things aloneB
Have driven our perverse and aimless bandA
Let us go hence somewhither strange and coldC
To Hollow Lands where just men and unjustD
Find end of labour where's rest for the oldC
Freedom to all from love and fear and lustD
Twine our torn hands O pray the earth enfoldC
Our life sick hearts and turn them into dustD
