Dum nos fata sinunt oculos satiemus Amore PROPERTIUSA
-
Cease smiling Dear a little while be sadB
Here in the silence under the wan moonC
Sweet are thine eyes but how can I be gladB
Knowing they change so soonC
-
For Love's sake Dear be silent Cover meD
In the deep darkness of thy falling hairE
Fear is upon me and the memoryD
Of what is all men's shareE
-
O could this moment be perpetuateF
Must we grow old and leaden eyed and grayG
And taste no more the wild and passionateH
Love sorrows of to dayG
-
Grown old and faded Sweet and past desireI
Let memory die lest there be too much ruthJ
Remembering the old extinguished fireI
Of our divine lost youthJ
-
O red pomegranate of thy perfect mouthK
My lips' life fruitage might I taste and dieL
Here in thy garden where the scented southK
Wind chastens agonyD
-
Reap death from thy live lips in one long kissA
And look my last into thine eyes and restM
What sweets had life to me sweeter than thisA
Swift dying on thy breastM
-
Or if that may not be for Love's sake DearN
Keep silence still and dream that we shall lieL
Red mouth to mouth entwined and always hearO
The south wind's melodyD
-
Here in thy garden through the sighing boughsA
Beyond the reach of time and chance and changeP
And bitter life and death and broken vowsA
That sadden and estrangeP
