Cynara Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAC BCDEDC ECFGFC GCAHAC IC

Last night ah yesternight betwixt her lips and mineA
There fell thy shadow Cynara thy breath was shedB
Upon my soul between the kisses and the wineA
And I was desolate and sick of an old passionC
-
Yea I was desolate and bowed my headB
I have been faithful to thee Cynara in my fashionC
All night upon mine heart I felt her warm heart beatD
Night long within mine arms in love and sleep she layE
Surely the kisses of her bought red mouth were sweetD
But I was desolate and sick of an old passionC
-
When I awoke and found the dawn was grayE
I have been faithful to thee Cynara in my fashionC
I have forgot much Cynara gone with the windF
Flung roses roses riotously with the throngG
Dancing to put thy pale lost lilies out of mindF
But I was desolate and sick of an old passionC
-
Yea all the time because the dance was longG
I have been faithful to thee Cynara in my fashionC
I cried for madder music and for stronger wineA
But when the feast is finished and the lamps expireH
Then falls thy shadow Cynara the night is thineA
And I am desolate and sick of an old passionC
-
Yea hungry for the lips of my desireI
I have been faithful to thee Cynara in my fashionC
