To The Goddess Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBCDBE BFGHBIJG ABKLEBMB BBN

Goddess I come to youA
my neck wreathed with rosebudsB
my head filled with visions of infantsB
my palms open to your silver nailsB
my eyes open to your rays of illuminationC
my vagina my womb gapingD
to be filled by your radianceB
O goddess I would be a worthy vesselE
-
Impermanence all is impermanenceB
The cock rises to fall againF
the woman fills only to emptyG
in a convulsion that shakes the worldH
the poet grows to become a voiceB
only to lose that voice when death takes herI
A stroke cancels her upon the pageJ
yet I open her book a chill wind blows from eternityG
-
Goddess I come to youA
wreathed in tears in losses in whistling windsB
I wrap the witch's herbs around my neckK
to ward off the impermanence that is our common fateL
The herbs dry crumbleE
as my face grows the map of my anxietiesB
my daughter leaps up like a vineM
twining around the trellis of impermanenceB
-
O goddess teach me to praise lossB
death the passing of all things for from this fluxB
I know your blessings flowN
