Paper Chains Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFG HIJKGLM NMFO OPQ RS TUV WX

The first snow of the yearA
you lying between my breastsB
in my husband's houseC
the snow gently rising in my throatD
like guiltE
the windows frosted overF
as if etched by acidG
-
You have come from the desertH
have left a little sandI
between my legsJ
where it rubs rubsK
secretes a milky fluidG
finally a poemL
or a pearlM
-
I am your oyster shellN
your mother of pearlM
gleaming like oil on waterF
for two hours on a snowy dayO
-
'Poets fall in love to write about it '-
I said in my brittle wayO
told you about other loves to tempt youP
heard your siren songs of old affairsQ
-
I fall in love as a kind of research projectR
You fall in love as some men go to warS
-
What tanksT
What bombsU
What storms of index cardsV
-
I am binding up your legs with carbon ribbonW
I tied you to the bed with paper chainsX
