Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFF GHIJKHLHHAMNOHP HQRSHTUVAHHQH WHHXYZA2A2H

Black ship of nightA
sailing through the worldB
the moon an orange sliceC
tangy to the teethD
of lovers who lieE
under itF
sucking itF
-
Somewhere there are palm treesG
somewhere the seaH
bluely gathers itself upI
lets itself fall againJ
into greenK
somewhere the spanglesH
of light on the oceanL
dazzle the eyesH
but here in the midnight cityH
the black ship of nightA
has dockedM
for a long dark stayN
even the citrus moonO
with its pockets of juiceH
cannot sweeten the darkP
-
Then the snow beginsH
whirling over the PoleQ
gathering force over CanadaR
sprinkling the Great Lakes with sugarS
which drowns in their deep black cupsH
it is drawn to the spires of New YorkT
the flurries comeU
scampering at firstV
lighthearted crystalline whiteA
but finallyH
sucked into the cityH
as into a black holeQ
in spaceH
-
The sky is suddenly pinkW
pink as flesh breastsH
babies' bottoms Night isH
day day is whiter than the desertX
the city stops like a heartY
pigeons dip veerZ
come to restA2
under the snow hattedA2
watertanksH
