For My Husband Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFGAHIJKL MJCNO PQLRSST

You sleep in the darknessA
you with the back I loveB
the gift of sleepingC
through my noisy nights of poetryD
-
I have taken other men into my thoughtsE
since I met youF
I have loved parts of themG
But only you sleep on through the darknessA
like a mountain where my house is plantedH
like a rock on which my temple standsI
like a great dictionary holding every wordJ
even someK
I have never spokenL
-
You breatheM
The pages of your dreams are riffledJ
by the winds of my writingC
The pillow creases your cheekN
as I cover pagesO
-
Element in which I swimP
or flyQ
silent muse backbone companionL
it is unfashionableR
to confess to marriageS
yet I feel no bondageS
in this air we shareT
