the sky sinks its blue teethA
into the mountainsB
-
Rising on pure willC
-
the lurch lift offD
the sudden swingE
into wide white snowF
-
I encourage the cableG
-
Past the windH
crossed tips of my skisI
the mauve shadows of pinesJ
the spoor of bearsK
deerL
-
I speak to my fearL
-
rising ridingE
finding myselfM
-
the only thingE
between snow skyN
-
the linkO
that holds it all togetherP
-
Halfway up the wireP
we stopQ
slide back a littleG
a whirr of pulleysI
-
Astronauts circle above us todayR
in the television blue of spaceS
-
But the thin withers of alpsT
are waiting to take us tooU
this might be the moonV
-
We moveW
-
Friends this is a toyX
merely for reaching mountainsB
-
merelyY
for skiing downZ
-
now we're danglingE
like charms on the same braceletA2
-
or upsidedown tightrope peopleG
a colossal circusB2
-
or absurd winged walkersC2
angels in animal furP
-
with mittened hands wavingE
fear turningE
-
the mountainD2
like a fishermanE2
-
reeling us all inF2
-
So we landG2
on the windy peakH2
touch skis to snowF
are married to our purple shadowsI2
ski back downZ
to the unimaginable valleyY
-
leaving no footprintsJ2
