DanteA

-
He liv'd and lov'd he suffer'd he was poorB
But he was gifted with the gifts of HeavenC
And those of all the week days that are sevenC
And those of all the centuries that endureD
He bow'd to none he kept his honour sureD
He follow'd in the wake of those ElevenC
Who walk'd with Christ and lifted up his steven AE
To keep the bulwarks of his faith secureD
He knew the secrets of the singing timeF
He track'd the sun he ate the luscious fruitG
Of grief and joy and with his wonder luteG
He made himself a name in every climeF
The minds of men were madly stricken muteG
And all the world lay subject to his rhymeF
-
A Steven a voice old word revivedH
