Byron Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACBABDEEFDE

He was a god descended from the skiesA
To fight the fight of Freedom o'er a graveB
And consecrate a hope he could not saveB
For he was weak withal and foolish wiseA
Dark were his thoughts and strange his destiniesC
And oftentimes his life he did depraveB
But all do pity him though none despiseA
He was a prince of song though sorrow's slaveB
He ask'd for tears and they were tinged with fireD
He ask'd for love and love was sold to himE
He look'd for solace at the goblet's brimE
And found it not then wept upon his lyreF
He sang the songs of all the world's desireD
He wears the wreath no rivalry can dimE
