The Suburbs Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD

Miles and miles of quiet houses every house a harbourA
Each for some unquiet soul a haven and a homeB
Pleasant fires for winter nights for sun the trellised arbourA
Earth the solid underfoot and heaven for a domeB
-
Washed by storms of cleansing rain and sweetened with afflictionC
The hidden wells of Love are heard in one low murmuring voiceD
That rises from this close meshed life so like a benedictionC
That listening to it in my heart I almost dare rejoiceD
