| Er the song of loneliness | B |
| I have made a new armour | C |
| Brass is the medal of loneliness | B |
| I have worn a new mask | D |
| it is ever that of a beautiful smile | E |
| I have covered the true me | F |
| The loneliness in me | F |

| When my steps arrive at the city | F |
| It is the march of a great merry band | G |
| When I step behind my locked door | H |
| the band disappears and I the soloist am left | I |
| As I write with quill my poems of love and friendship to be published | J |
| The charcoal I use is mixed with hot tears for my ink | K |

| Nothing good 'soever lasts forever | C |
| Same applies to people in life | L |
| I've learnt not to depend on the good for happiness | B |
| For they never stay that long | A |
| I wear loneliness as a suit of armour | C |
| So that when they move on I am not left defenceless | B |
| I pride my self in this so I don't get humbled when left alone | M |

| O'er the wind atop my sail of life | L |
| Fresh faces across the mast of a thousand fleets | B |
| They sail with the wind but I against it | N |
| Ships of colours pass by but do not trade spices | B |
| maybe my spices aren't good enough | O |
| Aye I haven't made them fake enough | O |

| I write letters saying hello and how are you | P |
| My replies come back but no questions for me too | P |
| Someday I may understand how to feel again | Q |
| But for now my armour is my greatest domain | R |
| I see the world as it is more than ever and more clearly | F |
| An empty shell and I a stranger who came too early | F |

| I have composed a new song | A |
| A song of pride | S |
| I have modified my armour | C |
| It is thicker than ever before | H |
| I have removed my mask | D |
| My heart does the lying this time | T |
| I leave un clad the true me | F |
