The Supreme Sacrifice Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCCBBCDEDEFF

Well nigh two thousand years hath IsraelA
Suffered the scorn of man for love of GodB
Endured the outlaw's ban the yoke the rodB
With perfect patience Empires rose and fellC
Around him Nebo was adored and BelC
Edom was drunk with victory and trodB
On his high places while the sacred sodB
Was desecrated by the infidelC
His faith proved steadfast without breach or flawD
But now the last renouncement is requiredE
His truth prevails his God is God his LawD
Is found the wisdom most to be desiredE
Not his the glory He maligned misknownF
Bows his meek head and says Thy will be doneF
