Symphonic Studies: I Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACDDEFGFGHB

Floating upon a swelling wave of soundA
We seemed to overlook an endless seaB
Poised 'twixt clear heavens and glittering surf were weB
We drank the air in flight we knew no boundA
To the audacious ventures of desireC
Nigh us the sun was dropping drowned in goldD
Deep deep below the burning billows rolledD
And all the sea sang like a smitten lyreE
Oh the wild voices of those chanting wavesF
The human faces glimpsed beneath the tideG
Familiar eyes gazed from profound sea cavesF
And we exalted were as we had diedG
We knew the sea was Life the harmonious cryH
The blended discords of humanityB
