Surprise Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCD EFEFEF GHGIJJ

When the stunned soul can first lift tired eyesA
On her changed world of ruin waste and wrackB
Ah what a pang of aching sharp surpriseA
Brings all sweet memories of the lost past backB
With wild self pitying grief of one betrayedC
Duped in a land of dreams where Truth is deadD
-
Are these the heavens that she deemed were kindE
Is this the world that yesterday was fairF
What painted images of folk half blindE
Be these who pass her by as vague as airF
What go they seeking there is naught to findE
Let them come nigh and hearken her despairF
-
A mocking lie is all she once believedG
And where her heart throbbed is a cold dead stoneH
This is a doom we never preconceivedG
Yet now she cannot fancy it undoneI
Part of herself part of the whole hard schemeJ
All else is but the shadow of a dreamJ
