Rhyme Scheme: ABBCADDAAEAFEGGSTILL northward is the central mount of Maine | A |
From whose high crown the rugged forests seem | B |
Like shaven lawns and lakes with frequent gleam | B |
'Like broken mirrors ' flash back light again | C |
Eastward the sea with its majestic plain | A |
Endless of radiant restless blue superb | D |
With might and music whether storms perturb | D |
Its reckless waves or halcyon winds that reign | A |
Make it serene as wisdom Storied Spain | A |
Is the next coast and yet we may not sigh | E |
For lands beyond the inexorable main | A |
Our noble scenes have yet no history | F |
All subtler charms than those that feed the eye | E |
Our lives must give them 'tis an aim austere | G |
But opes new vistas and a pathway clear | G |
