Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGFHIJKLMNOPQRS CTUVWQXKYSFZA2Will night already spread her wings and weave | A |
Her dusky robe about the day's bright form | B |

And swathe it with her shadow in broad day | D |
So a green wreath of mist enrings the moon | E |
Till envious clouds do quite encompass her | F |
No wind and yet the slender stem is stirred | G |
With faint slight motion as from inward tremor | F |
Mine eyes are full of grief who sees me asks | H |
Oh wherefore dost thou cling unto the ground | I |
My friends discourse with sweet and soothing words | J |
They all are vain they glide above my head | K |
I fain would check my tears would fain enlarge | L |
Unto infinity my heart in vain | M |
Grief presses hard my breast therefore my tears | N |
Have scarcely dried ere they again spring forth | O |
For these are streams no furnace heat may quench | P |
Nebuchadnezzar's flames may dry them not | Q |

If in its crucible I must renew | S |
Incessantly the pangs of purifying | C |
Up challenge wrestle and o'ercome Be strong | T |
The late grapes cover all the vine with fruit | U |
I am not glad though even the lion's pride | V |
Content itself upon the field's poor grass | W |
My spirit sinks beneath the tide soars not | Q |
With fluttering seamews on the moist soft strand | X |
I follow Fortune not where'er she lead | K |
Lord o'er myself I banish her compel | Y |
And though her clouds should rain no blessed dew | S |
Though she withhold the crown the heart's desire | F |
Though all deceive though honey change to gall | Z |
Still am I lord and will in freedom strive | A2 |
