Cool hands and dewy lips is in the sky | A |
A sober nun with starry rosary | B |

Beneath her gaze the sleeping earth is calm | C |

Her prayer is ended and she riseth slow | E |
And o'er the hills she quietly doth go | E |
Noiseless and gentle as the midnight snow | E |

Then suddenly the pale east blushes red | F |
The flowers to see upraise a sleepy head | F |
The rosy colors deepen grow and spread | F |

A cool breeze whispers 'She is coming now ' | - |
And then the radiant colors burn and glow | E |
The white cast blushes over cheek and brow | G |

And glorious on the hills the Morning stands | H |
Her saffron hair back blown from rosy bands | H |
And light and joy and fragrance in her hands | H |

Her foot has touched the hill tops and they shine | I |
She comes the willow rustles and the pine | I |
She smiles upon the fields a smile divine | I |

And all the earth smiles back from mount to vale | J |
From oak to shuddering grass from glen to dale | J |
Wet fields and flowers and glistening brooks cry 'Hail ' | - |
