In The Night Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABA BCD CEF EGE GHH

Let us go in the air is dank and chillA
With dewy midnight and the moon rides highB
O'er ghostly fields pale stream and spectral hillA
-
This hour the dawn seems farthest from the skyB
So weary long the space that lies betweenC
That sacred joy and this dark mysteryD
-
Of earth and heaven no glimmering is seenC
In the star sprinkled east of coming dayE
Nor westward of the splendor that hath beenF
-
Strange fears beset us nameless terrors swayE
The brooding soul that hungers for her restG
Out worn with changing moods vain hopes' delayE
-
With conscious thought o'erburdened and oppressedG
The mystery and the shadow wax too deepH
She longs to merge both sense and thought in sleepH
