Grief Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHGHIJ

There is a hungry longing in the soulA
A craving sense of emptiness and painB
She may not satisfy nor yet controlA
For all the teeming world looks void and vainB
No compensation in eternal spheresC
She knows the loneliness of all her yearsC
-
There is no comfort looking forth nor backD
The present gives the lie to all her pastE
Will cruel time restore what she doth lackD
Why was no shadow of this doom forecastE
Ah she hath played with many a keen edged thingF
Naught is too small and soft to turn and stingF
-
In the unnatural glory of the hourG
Exalted over time and death and fateH
No earthly task appears beyond her powerG
No possible endurance seemeth greatH
She knows her misery and her majestyI
And recks not if she be to live or dieJ
