Dreams Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGBGB HIJIBBBB KEKLMNMN

A DREAM of lilies all the blooming earthA
A garden full of fairies and of flowersB
Its only music the glad cry of mirthA
While the warm sun weaves golden tissued hoursB
Hope a bright angel beautiful and trueC
As Truth herself and life a lovely toyD
Which ne'er will weary us ne'er break a newC
Eternal source of pleasure and of joyD
-
A dream of roses vision of Loves treeE
Of beauty and of madness and as brightF
As naught on earth save only dreams can beE
Made fair and odorous with flower and lightF
A dream that Love is strong to outlast TimeG
That hearts are stronger than forgetfulnessB
The slippery sand than changeful waves that climbG
The wind blown foam than mighty waters' stressB
-
A dream of laurels after much is goneH
Much buried much lamented much forgotI
With what remains to do and what is doneJ
With what yet is and what alas is notI
Man dreams a dream of laurel and of baysB
A dream of crowns and guerdons and rewardsB
Wherein sounds sweet the hollow voice of praiseB
And bright appears the wreath that it awardsB
-
A dream of poppies sad and true as TruthK
That all these dreams were dreams of vanityE
And full of bitter penitence and ruthK
In his last dream man deems 'twere good to dieL
And weeping o'er the visions vain of yoreM
In the sad vigils he doth nightly keepN
He dreams it may be good to dream no moreM
And life has nothing like Death's dreamless sleepN
