Autumn Sadness Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDEFFE GGHIIH BBJKKH LLMNNM OOHPPH

Air and sky are swathed in goldA
Fold on foldA
Light glows through the trees like wineB
Earth sun quickened swoons for blissC
'Neath his kissC
Breathless in a trance divineB
-
Nature pauses from her taskD
Just to baskD
In these lull'd transfigured hoursE
The green leaf nor stays nor goesF
But it growsF
Royaler than mid June's flowersE
-
Such impassioned silence fillsG
All the hillsG
Burning with unflickering fireH
Such a blood red splendor stainsI
The leaves' veinsI
Life seems one fulfilled desireH
-
While earth sea and heavens shineB
Heart of mineB
Say what art thou waiting forJ
Shall the cup ne'er reach the lipK
But still slipK
Till the life long thirst give o'erH
-
Shall my soul no frosts may tameL
Catch new flameL
From the incandescent airM
In this nuptial joy apartN
Oh my heartN
Whither shall we lonely fareM
-
Seek some dusky twilight spotO
Quite forgotO
Of the Autumn's Bacchic fireH
Where soft mists and shadows sleepP
There outweepP
Barren longing's vain desireH
