Admonition Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFEGG

Long in the lap of childhood didst thou sleepA
Think how thy youth like chaff did disappearB
Shall life's sweet Spring forever last Look upC
Old age approaches ominously nearB
Oh shake thou off the world even as the birdD
Shakes off the midnight dew that clogged his wingsE
Soar upward seek redemption from thy guiltF
And from the earthly dross that round thee clingsE
Draw near to God His holy angels knowG
For whom His bounteous streams of mercy flowG
