My Comforter Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAB CDCCD EFEEG HIHHI JKLLLK HMHHHM NONNNO

Well hast thou spoken and yet not taughtA
A feeling strange or newB
Thou hast but roused a latent thoughtA
A cloud closed beam of sunshine broughtA
To gleam in open viewB
-
Deep down concealed within my soulC
That light lies hid from menD
Yet glows unquenched though shadows rollC
Its gentle ray cannot controlC
About the sullen denD
-
Was I not vexed in these gloomy waysE
To walk alone so longF
Around me wretches uttering praiseE
Or howling o'er their hopeless daysE
And each with Frenzy's tongueG
-
A brotherhood of miseryH
Their smiles as sad as sighsI
Whose madness daily maddened meH
Distorting into agonyH
The bliss before my eyesI
-
So stood I in Heaven's glorious sunJ
And in the glare of HellK
My spirit drank a mingled toneL
Of seraph's song and demon's moanL
What my soul bore my soul aloneL
Within itself may tellK
-
Like a soft air above a seaH
Tossed by the tempest's stirM
A thaw wind melting quietlyH
The snow drift on some wintry leaH
No what sweet thing resembles theeH
My thoughtful ComforterM
-
And yet a little longer speakN
Calm this resentful moodO
And while the savage heart grows meekN
For other token do not seekN
But let the tear upon my cheekN
Evince my gratitudeO
