I Am The Only Being Whose Doom Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFG HGHG IGIG JGJG

I am the only being whose doomA
No tongue would ask no eye would mournB
I never caused a thought of gloomA
A smile of joy since I was bornB
-
In secret pleasure secret tearsC
This changeful life has slipped awayD
As friendless after eighteen yearsE
As lone as on my natal dayD
-
There have been times I cannot hideF
There have been times when this was drearG
When my sad soul forgot its prideF
And longed for one to love me hereG
-
But those were in the early glowH
Of feelings since subdued by careG
And they have died so long agoH
I hardly now believe they wereG
-
First melted off the hope of youthI
Then Fancy's rainbow fast withdrewG
And then experience told me truthI
In mortal bosoms never grewG
-
'Twas grief enough to think mankindJ
All hollow servile insincereG
But worse to trust to my own mindJ
And find the same corruption thereG
