Far, Far Away Is Mirth Withdrawn Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Far far away is mirth withdrawnA
'Tis three long hours before the mornB
And I watch lonely drearilyC
So come thou shade commune with meD
-
Deserted one thy corpse lies coldE
And mingled with a foreign mouldE
Year after year the grass grows greenF
Above the dust where thou hast beenG
-
I will not name thy blighted nameH
Tarnished by unforgotton shameH
Though not because my bosom tornB
Joins the mad world in all its scornB
-
Thy phantom face is dark with woeI
Tears have left ghastly traces thereJ
Those ceaseless tears I wish their flowI
Could quench thy wild despairJ
-
They deluge my heart like the rainK
On cursed Gomorrah's howling plainK
Yet when I hear thy foes derideL
I must cling closely to thy sideL
-
Our mutual foes they will not restM
From trampling on thy buried breastM
Glutting there hatred with the doomN
They picture thine beyond the tombN
-
But God is not like human kindO
Man cannot read the Almighty mindO
Vengeance will never tortue theyP
Nor hunt thy soul eternallyD
-
Then do not in this night of griefQ
This time of over whelming fearR
O do not think that God can leaveS
Forget forsake refuse to hearT
-
What have I dreamt He lies asleepU
With whom my heart would vainly weepU
He rests and I endure the woeI
That left his spirit long agoI
