At Castle Wood Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HIHI GJGK ILIL

The day is done the winter sunA
Is setting in its sullen skyB
And drear the course that has been runA
And dim the hearts that slowly dieB
-
No star will light my coming nightC
No morn of hope for me will shineD
I mourn not heaven would blast my sightC
And I ne'er longed for joys divineD
-
Through life's hard task I did not askE
Celestial aid celestial cheerF
I saw my fate without its maskE
And met it too without a tearG
-
The grief that pressed my aching breastH
Was heavier far than earth can beI
And who would dread eternal restH
When labour's hour was agonyI
-
Dark falls the fear of this despairG
On spirits born of happinessJ
But I was bred the mate of careG
The foster child of sore distressK
-
No sighs for me no sympathyI
No wish to keep my soul belowL
The heart is dead in infancyI
Unwept for let the body goL
