A Little Budding Rose Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCD EFEGHH IIJKLL

It was a little budding roseA
Round like a fairy globeB
And shyly did its leaves uncloseA
Hid in their mossy robeB
But sweet was the slight and spicy smellC
It breathed from its heart invisibleD
-
The rose is blasted withered blightedE
Its root has felt a wormF
And like a heart beloved and slightedE
Failed faded shrunk its formG
Bud of beauty bonnie flowerH
I stole thee from thy natal bowerH
-
I was the worm that withered theeI
Thy tears of dew all fell for meI
Leaf and stalk and rose are goneJ
Exile earth they died uponK
Yes that last breath of balmy scentL
With alien breezes sadly blentL
