Too Late Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCCB DDEFFE DDGHHG

Delayed till she had ceased to knowA
Delayed till in its vest of snowA
Her loving bosom layB
An hour behind the fleeting breathC
Later by just an hour than deathC
Oh lagging yesterdayB
-
Could she have guessed that it would beD
Could but a crier of the gleeD
Have climbed the distant hillE
Had not the bliss so slow a paceF
Who knows but this surrendered faceF
Were undefeated stillE
-
Oh if there may departing beD
Any forgot by victoryD
In her imperial roundG
Show them this meek apparelled thingH
That could not stop to be a kingH
Doubtful if it be crownedG
