The Chariot Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFB GHIH JKLK MENB

Because I could not stop for DeathA
He kindly stopped for meB
The carriage held but just ourselvesC
And ImmortalityB
-
We slowly drove he knew no hasteD
And I had put awayE
My labor and my leisure tooF
For his civilityB
-
We passed the school where children playedG
Their lessons scarcely doneH
We passed the fields of gazing grainI
We passed the setting sunH
-
We paused before a house that seemedJ
A swelling of the groundK
The roof was scarcely visibleL
The cornice but a moundK
-
Since then 't is centuries but eachM
Feels shorter than the dayE
I first surmised the horses' headsN
Were toward eternityB
