Renunciation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIJ KLMN OPQP RSTU VWXY

There came a day at summer's fullA
Entirely for meB
I thought that such were for the saintsC
Where revelations beB
-
The sun as common went abroadD
The flowers accustomed blewE
As if no soul the solstice passedF
That maketh all things newE
-
The time was scarce profaned by speechG
The symbol of a wordH
Was needless as at sacramentI
The wardrobe of our LordJ
-
Each was to each the sealed churchK
Permitted to commune this timeL
Lest we too awkward showM
At supper of the LambN
-
The hours slid fast as hours willO
Clutched tight by greedy handsP
So faces on two decks look backQ
Bound to opposing landsP
-
And so when all the time had failedR
Without external soundS
Each bound the other's crucifixT
We gave no other bondU
-
Sufficient troth that we shall riseV
Deposed at length the graveW
To that new marriage justifiedX
Through Calvaries of LoveY
