Purple Clover. Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABC DEFG HIAJ HKLK DMNO PQRG HNSH TUVW

There is a flower that bees preferA
And butterflies desireA
To gain the purple democratB
The humming birds aspireC
-
And whatsoever insect passD
A honey bears awayE
Proportioned to his several dearthF
And her capacityG
-
Her face is rounder than the moonH
And ruddier than the gownI
Of orchis in the pastureA
Or rhododendron wornJ
-
She doth not wait for JuneH
Before the world is greenK
Her sturdy little countenanceL
Against the wind is seenK
-
Contending with the grassD
Near kinsman to herselfM
For privilege of sod and sunN
Sweet litigants for lifeO
-
And when the hills are fullP
And newer fashions blowQ
Doth not retract a single spiceR
For pang of jealousyG
-
Her public is the noonH
Her providence the sunN
Her progress by the bee proclaimedS
In sovereign swerveless tuneH
-
The bravest of the hostT
Surrendering the lastU
Nor even of defeat awareV
When cancelled by the frostW
