Why The Spring Is Late Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCACADED CFBGFHDI JKLKMAFALMLM

To Miss Eva RussellA
The spring time is deaf to our pleadingB
The meadows are brown as can beC
The hilltops are bleak and unlovelyA
No thrush sits and sings on the treeC
I hear many practical peopleA
Explain why the spring loiters soD
But dear one they all are mistakenE
The true reason I alone knowD
-
-
The South wind Spring's hand maiden told meC
Her mistress declared o'er and o'erF
That till you were here to give greetingB
She'd visit our prairies no moreG
And all her vast household stand by herF
The thrush says he cannot come hereH
And sing the old songs that you loved soD
Unless you are lingering nearI
-
-
The wild pinks that rival your blushesJ
The violets blue as the skyK
Declare it no pleasure to blossomL
Unseen by your beautiful eyeK
Oh darling I'm loath to upbraid youM
So come without further delayA
Each moment you linger rememberF
You are keeping the spring time awayA
Then come we are waiting to welcomeL
The birds and the flowers 'tis trueM
But warmer than all is the welcomeL
Fair girl that is waiting for youM
