When You Go Away Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEG HIHI JKLM NONO

When you go away my friendA
When you say your last good byeB
Then the summer time will endA
And the winter will be nighB
-
Though the green grass decks the heatherC
And the birds sing all the dayD
There will be no summer weatherC
After you have gone awayD
-
When I look into your eyesE
I shall thrill with deepest painF
Thinking that beneath the skiesE
I may never look againG
-
You will feel a moment's sorrowH
I shall feel a lasting griefI
You forgetting on the morrowH
I to mourn with no reliefI
-
When we say the last sad wordJ
And you are no longer nearK
And the winds and all the birdsL
Cannot keep the summer hereM
-
Life will lose its full completenessN
Lose it not for you but meO
All the beauty and the sweetnessN
Each can hold I shall not seeO
