Of the prodigal son who came back to the fold | D |
And Christian people threw open the door | E |
With a warmer welcome than ever before | E |
Wealth and honour were his to command | F |
And a spotless woman gave him her hand | F |

Crying God bless ladye and God bless groom | A |

There was a maiden who went astray | C |
In the golden dawn of her life s young day | C |
She had more passion and heart than head | G |
And she followed blindly where fond Love led | G |
And Love unchecked is a dangerous guide | H |
To wander at will by a fair girl s side | H |

The woman repented and turned from sin | I |
But no door opened to let her in | I |
The preacher prayed that she might be forgiven | J |
But told her to look for mercy in Heaven | J |

For this is the law of the earth we know | K |
That the woman is stoned while the man may go | K |

A brave man weddded her after all | L |
But the world said frowning We shall not call | L |
