With that soft moonlit radiance of light | B |
That she best loves who sits and dreams of him | A |
Her heart has crowned as knight | B |
- | |
And one is bare and comfortless and dim | A |
With that strange fitful glimmer that is shed | C |
By candles casting shadows weird and grim | A |
Above the sheeted dead | C |
- | |
In one a round and beautiful young face | D |
Is full of wordless rapture and so fair | E |
You know her breast is joy's best dwelling place | D |
You know sweet love is there | E |
- | |
In one there lies a white and wasted face | D |
Whereon is frozen such supreme despair | E |
You need but look to know what left the trace | D |
You know love has been there | E |
- | |
To one he comes She leans her head of gold | F |
Upon his breast and bids him no more roam | G |
Ah God Ah God and one lies stark and cold | F |
Because he ceased to come | H |
