Twilight Thoughts Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHHHIJKJ LKMKLNFN DOPOMQRQ LSTSUVFV

The God of the day has vanishedA
The light from the hills has fledB
And the hand of an unseen artistC
Is painting the west all redB
All threaded with gold and crimsonD
And burnished with amber dyeE
And tipped with purple shadowsF
The glory flameth highE
-
Fair beautiful world of oursG
Fair beautiful world but ohH
How darkened by pain and sorrowH
How blackened by sin and woeH
The splendour pales in the heavensI
And dies in a golden gleamJ
And alone in the hush of twilightK
I sit in a chequered dreamJ
-
I think of the souls that are strayingL
In the shadows as black as the nightK
Of hands that are groping blindlyM
In search of a shining lightK
Of hearts that are mutely cryingL
And praying for just one rayN
To lead them out of the shadowsF
Into the better wayN
-
And I think of the Father's childrenD
Who are trying to walk aloneO
Who have dropped the hand of the ParentP
And wander in ways unknownO
Oh the paths are rough and thornyM
And I know they cannot standQ
They will faint and fall by the waysideR
Unguarded by God's right handQ
-
And I think of the souls that are yearningL
To folow the good and trueS
They are striving to live unsulliedT
Yet I know not what to doS
And I wonder when God the MasterU
Shall end this weary strifeV
And lead us out of the shadowsF
Into the deathless lifeV
