| But Psyche s self was put to shame | H |
| By one who from the cushions smiled | G |

| Their sweet narcotic breath exhaled | I |
| The lights the objects round her paled | I |
| She lost the sense of time and place | F |

| She seemed to float upon the air | J |

| And rising from a vapory sea | B |
| She saw a form divinely fair | J |

| A beauteous being in whose face | F |

| The innocence of maidenhood | K |
| The motherhood of the race | F |

| And conquer and control desire | L |

| The laughter lover light and bold | K |

| He gazed grew silent gazed again | P |
