From wall and niche nude nymph beguiled | G |
Fair goddess of world wide fame | H |
But Psyche s self was put to shame | H |
By one who from the cushions smiled | G |

Exotic blossoms from a vase | F |
Their sweet narcotic breath exhaled | I |
The lights the objects round her paled | I |
She lost the sense of time and place | F |

She seemed to float upon the air | J |
Untrammeled unrestricted free | B |
And rising from a vapory sea | B |
She saw a form divinely fair | J |

A beauteous being in whose face | F |
Shone all the things sweet and true and good | K |
The innocence of maidenhood | K |
The motherhood of the race | F |

The warmth which comes from heavenly fire | L |
The strength which leads the weaker man | M |
To climb to God s Eternal plan | M |
And conquer and control desire | L |

She shook as with a mighty awe | N |
For gazing on this shape which stood | K |
Embodying all true womanhood | K |
She knew it was herself she saw | O |

She wake as from a dream But when | P |
The laughter lover light and bold | K |
Came with his talk of wine and gold | K |
He gazed grew silent gazed again | P |

Then turned abashed from those calm eyes | Q |
Where lurked no more the lure to sin | R |
Her higher self had entered in | R |
Her path now led to Paradise | S |
