Together Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC ADADEE FBFBAA GHIHJJWe two in the fever and fervour and glow | A |
Of life's high tide have rejoiced together | B |
We have looked out over the glittering snow | A |
And known we were dwelling in Summer weather | B |
For the seasons are made by the heart I hold | C |
And not by outdoor heat or cold | C |
- | |
We two in the shadows of pain and woe | A |
Have journeyed together in dim dark places | D |
Where black robed Sorrow walked to and fro | A |
And Fear and Trouble with phantom faces | D |
Peered out upon us and froze our blood | E |
Though June's fair roses were all in bud | E |
- | |
We two have measured all depths all heights | F |
We have bathed in tears we have sunned in laughter | B |
We have known all sorrows and delights | F |
They never could keep us apart hereafter | B |
Whether your spirit went high or low | A |
My own would follow and find you I know | A |
- | |
If they took my soul into Paradise | G |
And told me I must be content without you | H |
I would weary them so with my lonesome cries | I |
And the ceaseless questions I asked about you | H |
They would open the gates and set me free | J |
Or else they would find you and bring you to me | J |
