Marriage oft means care and worryA

Auntie says with manner graveB
Wife is synonym for slaveB

How does Bradstreet rate his standingC

Sister crooning to her twinsD
Sighs With marriage care beginsD

Grandma near life s closing daysE
Murmurs Sweet are girlhood s waysE

Maud twice widowed sod and grassF
Looks at me and moans AlasF

They are six and I am oneG
Life for me has just begunG

They are older calmer wiserH
Age should aye be youth s adviserH

They must know and yet dear meA
When in Harry s eyes I seeA

All the world of love there burningC
On my six advisers turningC

Is not like most men who marryA

Fate has offered me a prizeI
Life with love means ParadiseJ
