Time And Love Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EBFBGHGH IBIBHCHC

Time flies The swift hours hurry byA
And speed us on to untried waysB
New seasons ripen perish dieA
And yet love staysB
The old old love like sweet at firstC
At last like bitter wineD
I know not if it blest or curstC
Thy life and mineD
-
Time flies In vain our prayers our tearsE
We cannot tempt him to delaysB
Down to the past he bears the yearsF
And yet love staysB
Through changing task and varying dreamG
We hear the same refrainH
As one can hear a plaintive themeG
Run through each strainH
-
Time flies He steals out pulsing youthI
He robs us of our care free daysB
He takes away our trust and truthI
And yet love staysB
O Time take love When love is vainH
When all its best joys dieC
When only its regrets remainH
Let love too flyC
